AFS Insurance Agents & Brokers Ltd. ("AFS," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you request a motor insurance quote or comparison through our Facebook or Instagram lead forms, website, or related marketing (the "Services"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. AFS is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Information We Collect
When you submit a quote request, we collect: your name, email address, and phone number; your current auto insurance renewal timing, current coverage type, and number of vehicles; and any information you provide during a follow-up call or quote review. We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of data (such as health or financial account information) through our lead forms.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
• Prepare and deliver a motor insurance quote or comparison
• Contact you by phone, email, or text about your quote request & appointment
• Schedule and remind you of your booked quote review
• Maintain records required by Bahamian insurance regulation
• Improve our advertising and services, including measuring ad performance
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your information on the following bases:
• Contract / pre-contract steps -to respond to your quote request at your own initiative
• Consent -for marketing emails and text messages, which you may withdraw at any time (see Communications & Opt-Out below)
• Legitimate interests -to improve our services, prevent fraud, and measure advertising performance, balanced against your right to privacy
• Legal obligation -where we must retain records under Bahamian insurance or data protection law
Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
• Licensed insurance carriers, for the purpose of preparing your quote comparison
• Service providers who help us operate our systems on our behalf — including our CRM/booking platform (Clickvert Media), and Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook/Instagram), for the purpose of processing your lead form submission
• Regulators or law enforcement, where required by law
All service providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations and may only use your information to provide the service in question -not for their own purposes.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (including Clickvert Media and Meta) operate outside The Bahamas, which means your information may be processed on servers located in other countries, including the United States. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection consistent with this policy
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Our website and landing pages may use the Meta Pixel and/or Conversions API to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to help Meta deliver relevant ads. These tools may set cookies or use similar technologies in your browser. You can control cookies through your browser settings and manage ad preferences through your Facebook/Instagram account settings
Communications & Opt-Out
You may receive emails and, where enabled, text messages related to your quote request. You can unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting [email protected]. To stop text messages, reply STOP to any message. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect a quote review you've already booked
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as you remain a lead or customer, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet Bahamian insurance recordkeeping requirements and resolve any disputes — generally no longer than 7 years after your last interaction with us, unless a longer period is required by law. After that, your information is securely deleted or anonymized.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including access controls and confidentiality obligations on our service providers — to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
Children's Privacy
Our Services are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older (the minimum age to hold a motor insurance policy in The Bahamas). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Automated Decision-Making
We do not make any decision about your quote, eligibility, or pricing using solely automated means without human review. A licensed representative is involved in every quote we prepare.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct (rectify) inaccurate or incomplete information
• Request deletion (erasure) of your information
• Request that we restrict how we use your information
• Object to certain processing, including for direct marketing
• Receive a copy of your information in a portable format, where technically feasible
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
• Not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you
